High-Lift System
Design and Analysis of a High-Lift System for the Noemi Seaplane

Project Duration
Oct 2024 – Dec 2024
Project partners

Project Description
Design and analysis of a high-lift system for the ELFLY Noemi, a 9-seat electric seaplane. The project involved analyzing existing high-lift system architectures, gathering windtunnel data and extrapolating the high lift system performance supported by a VLM analysis. The flap contour, chordwise extent, gap, overlap and deflection angles were selected and proposed to the customer. Subsequent CFD analysis and windtunnel testing confirmed the design and demonstrated favorable performance characteristics.
My Contribution
- Analysed existing high-lift system architectures on similar class aircraft.
- Performed a tradeoff-study between multiple architectures.
- Enabled the customer to select the most promising high-lift system architecture for their aircraft.
- Prepared a Vortex Lattice Model (VLM) analysis of the wing lift distribution and flap effects.
- Extrapolated the high-lift system performance (aerodynamic coefficients) from literature data
